Turquoise Takes Charge

Tuesday July 7, 2009
The past few weeks I've noticed one of my (and my mother's) absolute favorite colors coming back in style -- turquoise! The stars have been sporting it full-force all over the red carpet and looking fierce.

Newlywed (and preggers) reality star Kendra Wilkinson recently sported this sexy little one-shouldered number that showed off her figure (pre-bump), and former reality stars Stephanie Pratt and Tori Spelling also recently slipped on this bold red carpet color. Turquoise looks rockin' on every complexion and hair color (trust me, I know, I'm a red head and can pull off this fab color) and definitely brightens up any look.

But if you're hesitant about trying it out why not start out small. Turquoise jewelry and accessories are a great way to accent any style without it being overpowering. Love it!

Celeb Bikini Bods

Monday July 6, 2009
Even with Michael Jackson monopolizing the tabloid covers this past week, the "weeklies" still managed to sneak in their favorite story -- hot/not celebrity bikini bods (beach bods). Now in an age when most Americans are gaining weight (thanks McDonalds!) or are obsessed with their weight these stories aren't really helping matters. But then the tabs go and find young starlets, like Stephanie Pratt (whom I loathe calling a starlet) and put her on the cover saying she got an eating disorder only once she got into the Hollywood spotlight. I think Hollywood and the tabloids really make us crazy about our weight. Every week I see articles picking apart celeb bodies for cellulite, jiggly thighs and lumpy tushies. Well, welcome to reality, they're just brave enough to put it out there. Are you fed up with the tabs' coverage of celebrities' body parts?

Madonna: Sticky and Sweet

Monday July 6, 2009
We might have lost the King of Pop, but the Queen of Pop (Madonna) is still going strong into her 50s and has just started the second leg of her Sticky and Sweet tour. She kicked off her tour on July 4th in London (kinda ironic) and this second half will now include some hot new costumes! These super new, super couture costumes (including one with a Goth/bondage twist and a new dress) are right from hands of Givenchy Haute Couture’s Riccardo Tisci and were specially designed just for her Madgesty. So for those lucky enough to check out Madonna keep your eyes peeled!

Anna Sui (and Gossip Girl) For Target

Tuesday June 30, 2009
Exciting news for all you Gossip Girl junkies. (and fashion junkies). We've known for a while that fabulous designer-to-the-stars Anna Sui is partnering with Target for the second Designer Collaborations series (after Alexander McQueen), but Anna's series will actually be based on the four main (and very different) stylish stars of GG -- Blair, Serena, Jenny and Vanessa. Expect to see metallic jacquards, herringbone, silk and chiffon and detailing with tulle, lace and sequins that represent all four characters and all different elements of the city! Now you can actually channel your inner Blair or rock out to inner Vanessa. Or maybe hit up your secret bad-gal Serena style! It's all in the clothes...Check them out at Target starting September 13.

Farrah Fawcett (1947-2009)

Friday June 26, 2009
It's been a rough couple of days for Hollywood. First everyone's favorite sidekick Ed McMahon passed away and then the double-whammy of Michael Jackson and Farrah Fawcett in one day. If one hairdo could define a generation it was Farrah's fluffy blond locks. Plus the blond bombshell was well-known for her role as Jill Munroe on the 70s cult classic Charlie's Angels. Her red bathing suit pin-up poster is still the best-selling of all time, making her an international sex symbol! She was also nominated for several Golden Globe and Emmy awards making her not only a very pretty face, but a very talented actress as well. It's been tough watching both the tabloids and TV news document Farrah's ongoing battle with cancer, but it shows just how tough she was. Just like Michael and Ed, Farrah and her million dollar smile will be missed!

The King Of Pop (1958-2009)

Friday June 26, 2009
Some people might refer to him as "Wacko Jacko" or other not-so-nice nicknames, but those of us a little older (and maybe a little wiser) know that Michael Jackson was truly a brilliant artist (for almost five decades). His sudden passing yesterday from what doctors believe was cardiac arrest is nothing short of tragic. But what he left the world with - all his music - is nothing short of genius. To me Michael was the "King of Pop", I was scared of his "Thriller" video (I was barely old enough to walk), and I loved his moonwalk. I can go into all his record-breaking music sales across the globe, but I'll mention something people sometimes forget about - his fabulous sense of style! Remember the one glove? You still see people sporting that style every once in a while! How about his heavily zippered jackets or the military-style he sported with such grace? Michael definitely made an indelible mark on the world of style as well as the world of music and he will be sorely missed!

Heidi Klum's A Doll

Wednesday June 24, 2009
To be honest we can't believe she doesn't have one already! The smart people at Mattel are putting together a brand-new Blond Ambition Barbie collection celebrating iconic blondes in both fashion and entertainment and who better to be part of that than German supermodel and entrepreneur (and Project Runway diva) than our very own Heidi Klum! Even preggers with her fourth child (another girl!) Heidi has been stylish and savvy, looking fab on the red carpet and shooting shots for the very next season of our beloved PR. The new Heidi Barbie, which will be available in stores this coming September, has Heidi's signature blond locks, a stunning sequin mini-dress, fabulous platform gold sandals (very Yves Saint Laurent) and dangly earrings. And apparently Heidi's been involved in the entire design process. We can't wait!

It's Twins for Sarah Jessica & Matthew!

Wednesday June 24, 2009
So we knew this day was coming, but the twin girls of Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick were officially born on June 22. But what we were really waiting for were the names of the two tiny princesses. They had to be good, right? Well here they are: Marion Loretta Elwell and Tabitha Hodge. Both Elwell and Hodge are family names. They're a bit old fashioned, but kinda cute. And you know both Marion and Tabitha will have wardrobes better than most stars twice their age, thanks to SJP's fab taste and connections. Lucky babies! Congrats, SJP and Matthew!

The Furor Over Kate Gosselin's Hair

Thursday June 18, 2009
Maybe it's me, but I don't get Kate Gosselin's (of TLC's John & Kate Plus 8 infamy) hair. She says it's her signature 'do, but is this a signature you want? It's long and asymmetrical in the front and short and spiky in the back...who came up with this crazy style? It had to have been a mistake at first, right? I think Kathy Griffin said it best when she said, "It looks like one of those kids got the scissors!" Definitely. And I don't believe Kate for one second when she says people are actually copying this style. It's definitely not the new "Rachel". Or maybe I'm just boring in my taste! Am I wrong?

What's Too Short?

Thursday June 18, 2009
As the weather gets warmer (which I am wondering if it'll ever do in New York) I am starting to sort through my summer clothes and am coming across my shorts and skirts. Now as I get older some of my summer clothes are looking shorter and shorter to me, and trust me, I am not getting any taller, just older! Of course Sacha Baron Cohen as Bruno may not be the best example of shortie shorts (and no, my shorts are not that short) but at what age and length does something become too short??? I am still in my 20s (cough, cough, barely), but that doesn't mean I am breaking out the Daisy Dukes, but seriously, what's appropriate?
