Happy Halloween!

Today is one of the most fun days of the year for both children and adults -- Halloween! Children get to dress up however they want and eat candy without worrying about getting in trouble. And adults can eat as much candy as they want, diets be darn, and not feel guilty. And then there are some adults (present company included) that enjoy dressing up! It's always fun to pretend to be someone else, taking on another persona that you would never, ever do in your real life. Of course, celebrities take this to another extreme, with expert makeup, hair and costumes. The staff at NBC's Today Show is the best at this, completely transforming into another world so that you wouldn't even recognize them on the street (talk about where in the makeup is Matt Lauer?)! Every year they have fabulous ensemble costumes, including one year taking on Johnny Depp as Jack Sparrow and the cast of Pirates of the Caribbean. This year the inventive morning team played to a younger audience with Fairytales calling their costumes "Once Upon a Halloween" in reference to the upcoming movie The Tale of Despereaux, which is based on a children's book. Of course, each host looked unbelievable, if not unrecognizable. Matt Lauer took on a classic as Humpty Dumpty, Ann Curry was Cinderella (ballgown and all), Meredith Vieira had a long pointed noise glued on to play the little boy who lied as Pinocchio and Al Roker looked delish as the Gingerbread man. It must be nice to have a professional crew to help you out. but for the rest of us, there's always Ricky's, the best Halloween store on the planet.
