Since we first learned of Rihanna's collaboration with British high street swag seller River Island, we've been itching to see what the "Only Girl In The World" has come up with. Would she shill naval-gazing crop tops? Thigh-high split dresses? Or tomboy jumpsuits? Well the answer is yes, yes and yes.
After a lukewarm reception at London Fashion Week, River Island has released its first images of Bad Gal RiRi's collection as modelled by Jourdan Dunn, Tao Okamoto, Ataui Deng, Bambi Northwood Blyth and Charlotte Free, and photographed by Mario Testino. Surprisingly (or maybe not so much given her unapologetic attitude), Rihanna doesn't feature in the rebellious Nineties campaign, which will be available in stores and online from March 5. Now check it out below...
1. Evolution of Fabric
All draped in black, the models outfits evolve (left to right) from barely there garments
to more acceptable amounts of fabric.
Every time I see black and white stripes I'm reminded of Beetlejuice. This outfit is no exception, however, it also invokes images of Rihanna's "What's My Name?" music video.
3. Color Splash
While black dominates the palette, RiRi does offer flashes of color, like the dayglow yellow used in this slinky bodycon mini with a slashed back. True to her own unique style, she's teamed virtually everything with black combat boots.
4. Jumping for Jumpsuits
A hooded jumpsuit
in soft denim looks like it's been pulled straight from Rihanna's home closet. The undone buttons and ample skin is also unsurprising.
A casual rest bite. We all love a comfortable white tee, however, few of us would team one with thigh boots
and gym knickers. Still, it's a relaxed piece, complimented by a high school football jacket.
Along with her clothing for River Island, Rihanna is also releasing four cosmetic collections through cult beauty brand, MAC. It will be sold at Rihanna's concerts and online, and will include lipsticks, blushers, eye shadows and false lashes. Have to say, I'm loving the black lippy. What do you think of the makeup and clothing?
