Sure, we all ooh and aah when we see a blushing bride, but when we see a celebrity bride we take in every detail of her big day. There's no limit for today's A-list bride-to-be, so I enlisted the help of BRIDES Magazine's top-notch experts -- Editor-in-Chief Millie Martini Bratten, Deputy Editor Sally Kilbridge, Fashion Director Rachel Leonard and Senior Travel Editor Sherri Eisenberg to dish the dirt on dresses, destinations and desserts for some upcoming celeb nuptials. Keep reading for their thoughts and then pick up the Sept/Oct issue of BRIDES to check out your own bride style in a new 22-question quiz!
1. Ellen DeGeneres & Portia de Rossi, cool and stylish
Our experts think these two would want something cool and stylish, definitely nothing over the top. For Ellen, a native of Louisiana, she feels best when she sticks close to home, which for her is now Los Angeles. Our team sees this twosome staying in California (maybe Palm Spring if they want to try a destination) probably a big wedding at their Beverly Hills mansion with Ellen's mom as her maid-of-homor, a pack of flower dogs (think of her American Express commercials loaded with animals!), and Mark Ronson as DJ. As party favors, guest would receive Ipods loaded with the wedding playlist! Sounds fun and chill to us, and very Ellen!
2. Scarlett Joahnasson & Ryan Reynolds, romantic and sexy
Scarlett Johansson has had many looks and many styles -- anyone remember her mullet? Scarlett will probably not want some big fancy wedding, she likes things indy and unusual. Our experts think ScarJo (or will she become ScarRey?) will go the sustainable route, or possibly the localvore route (where you eat only locally-grown and produced food). The guests will feast on organic food and wine, while listening to acoustic music and guests will receive Obama t-shirts as party favors. The more-relaxed couple will probably choose a remote location out of the glare of Hollywood, like Vermont. Let's just hope Woody Allen can find it!
3. Uma Thurman & Arpad Busson, artsy and boho
OK, so Uma Thurman may not be a blushing bride. But isn't the third time a charm? Although agnostic now, Uma was raised Buddhist and our experts think a spiritual Buddhist ceremony at sunset in a fabulous French chateau (maybe in the Loire Valley), with her kids acting as attendants is perfect for this long-and-lean bride. All the guests can enjoy cases of Dom Perignon, a delicious formal seated dinner, lots of family toasts and a troupe of Balinese dancers performing after the cake-cutting. If this is too formal for Uma's third wedding, then the relaxed and hippie-ish Uma can take it to the Kauai beach, although our experts are having a hard time picturing her dapper fiance donning a bold Hawaiian shirt!
4. Nicole Richie & Joel Madden, ladylike socialite
A reformed wild-child, Nicole has spent her entire life in the media spotlight -- so why would her big day be any different? Our experts have placed a red carpet instead of an aisle runner, baby Harlow instead of a bouquet and of course, BFF Paris Hilton as maid-of-honor, as long as the two are on speaking terms (Paris can wear her signature pink). For a true Los Angeles girl like Nicole, there is no where else for the ceremony except the Kodak Theater -- home to the Academy Awards. Dad Lionel will sing his song "Hello" during Nicole's walk down the aisle (cue the tears), while Greenday will be the celeb-band and Wolfgang Puck will create a special fast-food menu. If Nicole wants even more glitz, she can relocate her big day to St. Barts!
5. Fergie & Josh Duhamel, rock-n-roll and hip
According to our experts for Fergie's big day it has to be Fergalicious, which means an eclectic party with recording booths for their guests to actually record their own tunes. The menu includes comfort food such as lasagna and sliders -- yum. Obviously, the guests will rock out to R&B, hip-hop and pop (and Fergie!) and where else could this awesome party happen but Las Vegas -- the very name of her fiance's show!
